MISSIONS WALK-THROUGH
Considering that the average time to complete the game is a mere eight
hours, the guide's mission section will not be a thorough walk-through
of the entire game. It's worth noting that the game is linear, and as
long as you listen to the cinematic dialogue, you will have a fairly
easy time on completing the task and figuring out your next objective.
Goro's Lair
There's nothing spectacular or difficult about Goro's Lair. It's pretty
much a straightforward tutorial section for your character. Follow the
computer's instruction and you'll be fine.
Wu-Shi Academy
Listen to Johnny Cage's every command. Basically, he wants you to kick
ass at all times. Similar to Goro's Lair, the Wu-Shi level is extremely
easy, but there is one tricky part. Following the fire extinguishing
events, pay close attention to the scene with Raiden. If you don't pay
attention to Raiden's words, you'll definitely be confused on where to
go next. He will describe Shang Tsung's intention and advise you to
take the portal to Outworld. Since there are several portals in the
portal hub of the Outworld, an indication of your next destination will
be in the form of a blue orb.
Evil Monastery
Inside the not-so-evil monastery is the beautiful and feisty Kitana.
Although her name is a misnomer--she doesn't even own a Kitana
blade--she will not hesitate to cut you up like sliced Wonderbread. Stay
on the lookout for Kitana's so-called friends, Mileena and Jade--they
too have some sort of grudge against you.
|
One of the trickier puzzles in the Evil Monastery involves launching a
guard into the spikes and to use the corpse as a stepping ground on to
the higher platform. |
|
Kitana - Boss Fight
Weaken Kitana and throw her into the barrier. When she's in the barrier,
thwart off Mileena and Jade's attempts to free her. A simple strong
attack or a launch will hold them back. |
|
Once Kitana is out of the barrier, take care of the catty girls by
throwing or launching them into the cages. Alternatively, you may simply
beat the crap out of them with a combination of strong attacks, jump
cancel strong attacks and continuous launchers. Your reward for
completing the mission is the Fist of Ruin. With it, you're now able to
break Statues of Evil by executing a strong attack.

Your next agenda is to find the Living Forest portal. From the first
floor, take the ramp up the second level. Take a right and defeat the
two Shadow Priests to uncover the bridge to the Living Forest.
Living Forest
Your main agenda is to hunt and kill Reptile. Although the previous
levels were a walk in the park, the difficulty increases when you enter
the Living Forest. There are several challenging puzzles that may even
stump a few gamers. Presented below is the walk-through to the most
difficult puzzles found in the Living Forest.
|
The first puzzle involves the search for three trees that look like the
background trees of Mortal Kombat II. You must satisfy their hunger by
throwing enemies into their mouths, which will unlock the vine
barricades which are found throughout the level.
|
|
Kill all the shadow men by throwing them into the patch of thorns. To
get to the platform, stand close to the edge and long jump across the
gap.
|
|
The only way to escape the Snake Pit is for each snake to be fed a zombie. To feed the snakes, throw the zombies at them.
|
|
To solve this puzzle, use multi-directional punching to destroy all of
the statues. You have to be quick on the draw because the statues come
you at a very fast pace. An easy method is to simply mash on the light
attack button while pointing the analog stick in the direction you want
to attack.
|
|
The theme of this puzzle is to break the columns that are in your way.
Take note of a pillar that is starting to crumble--it will be your first
demolition target. Use your strong attacks to send it crashing down.
Similar crumbling pillars must also be destroyed with your strong
attack.
|
At first, the big nasty snake may seem frightening and difficult, but it
has an elementary pattern of attack. The snake will not deviate from
its predetermined route. Stay clear of its movements, memorize its
routine, and definitely don't touch it.
|
Reptile - Boss Fight
Surprise, surprise, you'll find Reptile hiding all the way back at the
end of the level. Reptile isn't a difficult fight. As long as you pay
attention and react to his attacks, defeating Reptile will be a cinch.
When launching Reptile, don't overly use light aerial combos. He'll
counteract your airborne efforts with one of his nasty strong attacks.
Stick with using strong attacks to deal most of the damage.
|
|
When Reptile is shooting projectiles, run towards the bottom left hand
corner and hide behind the tree root. For the most part, his projectiles
will miss you, but if it ever happens to hit you, jump or block them.
If Reptile becomes invisible, you may have to frantically
multi-directional attack in every possible direction. Although
invisible, Reptile can still be sighted by a glowing green light
emitting from his mouth. Once he's in invincible mode, he will attempt
to throw projectiles at you. Luckily, there is a quite a bit of startup
before his projectiles is executed. Furthermore, the projectiles startup
will release a green-yellow smoke and clearly give away his presence.
Another strategy is exclusive for Kung Lao. Kung Lao may jump in the air
and perform random jumping strong attacks because his attack have a
tendency to lock onto the enemy. If you miss with your jumping strong
attack, quickly jump cancel the ending animation frame, and re-jump to
evade Reptile's attacks. Repeat the process until you're able to hit the
slipperly snake.
When you have defeated Reptile, you will be rewarded the wall climb ability.
